Overview

The Chilam Joshi Festival is a highly anticipated spring festival in the Kalash Valley, also known as Chilimjusht, Chilim Jhust, and Kalash Spring Festival, where the Kalasha people express their gratitude and seek blessings from their God. This festival draws tourists from all over the world, who schedule their travel dates to witness the celebration. As part of our commitment to cultural exploration, we organize several guided tours to the Kalash Valley every year, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the rich traditions of this unique festival.

During the Chilam Joshi Festival, the Kalasha community places significant emphasis on purity, with elders stressing the importance of a clear and open mind when the Balomain visit the valley. In preparation, people take ritual baths a week prior to the festival, and during a purification ceremony, men are required to stand all day and have their faces sprinkled with the blood of a sacrificed goat at night. Men actively participate in cooking and bake special bread, which is then distributed in the three valleys of Kalash.

The festival also features singing and dancing, with young men and women coming together to dance and potentially find their future spouses during the event. At the end of the celebration, they announce the names of their partners. This festival is a beautiful expression of faith and cultural heritage, and we are honored to share this experience with our guests.
