🍽️ Meals: B / L / D 🏨 Hotel: Khaplu — standard hotel, twin sharing 📍 Altitude: 2,560m

Head east along the Shyok River to Khaplu, once the seat of a semi-independent Balti kingdom. Break at Menthokha Waterfall en route, then wander Barah Village's centuries-old lanes before dinner.

Push deeper into the mountains today, riding to Hushe Valley — the final settlement before the Karakoram's great peaks take over completely. Ride back toward Skardu with a detour through landscape that feels lifted from another continent — the golden dunes of Sarfaranga Cold Desert, one of the highest cold deserts on earth, sitting beside the turquoise still water of Blind Lake. Riders with energy left can tackle a short zigzag off-road section before rolling into Skardu for the evening.

Traveler Stories

You can choose between the Suzuki GS 150, Yamaha TTR 250 or Kove Rally 450, depending on your experience level and preference.

Not quite — the final stretch is too narrow and exposed for motorcycles. We park the bikes at Raikot Bridge, continue by 4x4 jeep to Tattu Village, then hike (or ride a horse) the rest of the way up to Fairy Meadows.

The Nanga Parbat Base Camp viewpoint, at approximately 3,967 metres above sea level — reached on a full-day hike from Fairy Meadows.

Coverage is reliable in Skardu, Hunza and Gilgit but weak or absent in remote areas such as Hushe Valley, Fairy Meadows and parts of Deosai National Park. We recommend an SCOM SIM card for the widest coverage in the region.

Yes. A backup support vehicle travels with the group throughout, carrying luggage, tools and spare parts, and is available to assist with any mechanical issue or emergency.
