Chunda Valley – Hidden Gem of Skardu

Located about 35 km from Skardu town, at a height of around 2,500 m, this valley has mountain views, colorful orchards, and a calm place for tourists, travelers, and researchers.
Chunda Valley is about 500 m above Skardu town and can be reached by a 1-hour drive (around 10 km) from the airport on rough roads—4×4 vehicles are recommended. Visitors can also walk or use local transport.

During spring and summer, Chunda bursts into life with blooming apricot, apple, and cherry trees, while autumn colors the valley in shades of gold and red.

Chunda Valley is pleasant to visit from April to September. Cherry blossoms bloom from late February to April, adding color to the valley.

In summer (May–September), temperatures are comfortable, ranging from 15–27 °C, with sunny days and cool nights. Short rains may occur occasionally.

Winter (December–February) is very cold, often below zero, and some roads may be closed.

Visitors should bring warm clothes in layers and be ready for sudden weather changes. The valley generally receives little rain because of the Karakoram mountains.
